Well, doesn't this seem to be trend...one post a year yikes! None the less, things are still ticking along at Harbourtown Soap Co. Port Stanley is gearing up for another fabulous summer at the beach. The village is filling up and excitement is in the air. There's something so exciting about doing business in a tourist area. It's like being on vacation all summer. The excitement of people visiting from all over, and knowing that my handmade products are being brought home to other countries. Scotland, England, Germany, and a woman I once met was sending soap to her daughter in law in the army stationed in Iraq. We have a lot of events coming to Port this summer, Canfest, Pride and Harbourfest. Have a great summer!

Spring Has Sprung...almost!

Well, spring isn't exactly in the air yet. There happens to be a snow storm outside at the moment, but this winter hasn't exactly been the worse we've ever experienced. I almost thought that we would be getting a way with little more than a dusting for the whole winter, but how can we complain when our second snow storm comes in mid-February? Anyway, enough about that. Freshly back from the CGTA Spring Gift show in Toronto, I am proud to say I, along with many other retailers, were absolutely thrilled with the new items offered, and the COLOURS! Wow!! This spring brings a well needed punch of colours. Tangerine, Turquois Blue, Hot Pink, and Sunshine Yellow.

I have some great new cover ups coming in the spring. Boasting as "Beach to Bar" wear, they are a cool bohemian inspired look with a light as air fabric for a warm summer day or night. I also picked up a lot of new bamboo towels, mats, shower curtains and accessories that are staples in the store, with a fresh new look with colourful stripes. Terrific nail kits and moisturizing socks & gloves continuing in the bountiful colour combinations. All co-ordinating to make a great gift or special treat for yourself.

This spring also gave me inscentive to come up with new soap designs and scents. Since tangerine is the headlining colour this season, I extended my line of Tangerine & Green Tea, including new soap design, hand wash, lotion, body wash and bubble bath, all in this punchy sophisticated slightly burnt orange colour. I love it!

Also, coming soon is a new website for me. Not only will it have a beautiful new look with plenty of pictures, it will be user friendly and offer more than just the products I make. It will include these wonderful cover ups, towels and accessories. It should be ready by beginning of March, so keep a look out. I will have a discount coupon # to launch the new site.

Stay tuned - and don't forget to "Like" me on Facebook !

Goodbye 2011 - nice working with you

Ok, I didn't realize I hadn't posted anything since spring last year - that's pathetic. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ! I think one of my New Year's resolutions will be to keep up with social media. It's hard to do in a way with such a busy life. I make all of the products by hand and work a full time job (for now!) as well. It's a great time though, and I love to keep busy. It's been so great being able to satisfy my creative side and to see the expression on people's faces when they find out I make these products is priceless. It's worth every late night and early morning I spend on making everything. Thank you all for your patronage, and encouragement.
I am now Twittering - Maknsoap is my handle. So far, I've been just trying to harass celebrities into trying my products. I've been especially trying to get my "Belieber" soap noticed.. So far to no avail may I add, but you never know until you try.
It's so fun to interact with people around the world, it's amazing really. This year, one of my focuses will be blog entries once a month, twittering as much as possible, and also keeping my website, and facebook page going with all of my new projects and products. I got a new camera, and blackberry, so it should be a lot easier now. If you could see this laptop that I'm typing on you'd see why it takes me so long to get things posted! I've also scheduled a meeting with Stewart to get my website updated. I can't figure out how to change the pictures!
I can't wait for January. To wipe the slate clean, and start with new ideas, and scrap the ones that didn't work out. I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas this year, and best wishes for 2012. We're going to start planning the best year ever ! Cheers!

Spring is in the Air!

The weather has been so fabulous lately, people can't wait to get to Port Stanley, and see the beach again. We've had day trippers coming down and experiencing the beautiful beach, restaurants and shopping. I love the spring, and all of the excitement it brings when you own a store, and get to bring in fresh new ideas and products. Another new arrival at the store this week are a huge array of bath bombs from Bomb Cosmetics. They are Handmade and Natural of course, and imported from the UK. They are the perfect partner for my products. I am only one girl, and it is hard to keep up with what I have, but love to add to my line, while keeping everything handmade. Come on down, and check us out. I haven't added them to my website yet, but just send me an e-mail if you're interested. I'd be happy to send them out to you.
See you soon!

2010

Go Canada!
Canada wins Gold - the Olympics were amazing! I'm so glad the world was able to see such a gorgeous part of our great country. Things are going well at my new location down in Port Stanley. If you find yourself in Southwestern Ontario, you should make your way down to "Port" , and check us out. I'm now located at 194 Main Street, Unit 8, inside Joshua & Co. which is a remarkable home decor store that is nothing short of stunning. Spring is around the corner, and I can't wait merchandise the new items that are coming into the store. I'm going to be carrying amazing goat milk soaps from Beekman 1802. It is handmade unscented, and chemical free goat's milk soap that uses the maximum possible percentage of pure goat milk. A chemical-free recipe that is ideal for sensitive skin. I will be one of the only stores in Canada to carry it, and I can promise you, it's fantastic! Plenty more new items coming in within the month of March so stay tuned!

Welcome 2009

Well, another year down. It's been a tough one for everyone, and I'm sure we are all looking forward to some good news in 2009. Well I have some now for you. The store will be moving across the street into Joshua & Co. in April of this year. It is a beautiful combination actually. Joshua & Co. is the hippest store on the street, and features stunning home decor items. Harbortown Soap will be a store within a store, and located in the back right section of the store - so you'll have to come and check us out !

I'm also working on new scents for the spring, and some new original looks for the soap designs. I've had such great feed back from everyone, via e-mail or at the store and shows, and I really appreciate how much everyone is enjoying my products! I have a lot of new ideas, so I will keep you posted on the new lines as soon as they're off the line.

The Christmas season just flew by, and I loved the experience of having a store at this time of year in particular. To see the store full of shoppers - almost all of them regulars now : ) I also received a great e-mail from someone who received a gift from my shop and loved it - and was wondering if she could buy some out her way. Well, that's the step I'm taking in 2009 - to get my products in some stores further out from London. So keep a look out - or tell a local shop keeper about my products, and they can get in touch with me : )

I also did a lot of corporate gifts these last few months, I've put in some pictures of a couple of my gift boxes.

Shows Shows Shows

Well the time is coming near. I've been hard at work preparing gift boxes & baskets for the Christmas Season. I have every weekend in November booked for Christmas shows. I love doing shows... they are so exciting seeing so many people in one place, shopping and checking out all of the other vendors. I especially like the events that come during the holidays like Pumpkin fest or Down Home Christmas shows, it's such a great way to get out and enjoy the season. You never know what kind of original art you will find out there. I've met so many creative and talented people at these shows, it's amazing. It's nice to give a gift that you know will be original and also to support your local artisan. Check out my new Events Calendar on the website to see where I will be.
Also want to mention that my products are now available at Beauty Total Day Spa in London Ontario, they are located at 308 Oxford St. East. It's a wonderful spa, and if you are looking for a place where you truly feel special you have to check it out. www.beautytotalspa.com
Also at Beauty Total and at my store are the beautiful and decadent Eastport Designs . If you are looking for robes, towels, bedding, quilts ..you name it with to die for embroidered initials or pictures on them, you should check out her line of products. They are truly stunning and the quality is unbelievable. Perfect for an original gift for yourself or someone special I urge you to check out her work. In person at Beauty Total Day Spa or her website is www.eastportdesigns.com
I will have a great selection of products and holiday gift items available at the store, Beauty Total, on line, or come and see me at one of the events ! Happy Thanksgiving.
